Jobseekers

1.

In case you need further clarifications related to your job, read your job description carefully and ask all the questions necessary for obtaining the all the answers.

2.

Be honest and authentic during the interview. It is recommended for you to attend several job interviews, instead of withholding the truth and be placed on a position for which you do not possess the necessary qualifications. Your employer will evaluate right away whether or not you can perform certain tasks and this can bring about a series of problems.

3.

Use the work telephone and internet with moderation. Do not use the employer’s telephone without having his/her prior permission. Take into account that, should this right be granted to you by your employer, you shall have to bear the cost of the telephone calls you make for personal reasons, which can be extremely high due to the telephone fares between Romania and your country of origin. Also, using the telephone or internet during an extended period of the night is not recommended.

4.

Dress in a decent manner during and outside working hours. We recommend practical clothing adequate to the nature of the position you occupy which should be at the same time presentable. During the night, try to follow the same dressing rules which apply for daytime. For example, avoid walking around the house in your pijamas.

5.

Make real efforts to get to know well the family, the country and the position which you will placed on. In the first three months set the main objective of getting very well acquainted with the family you are working for. After having been introduced to the specifications of the employer and the other working conditions, you can orient yourself towards building a network of friends. This kind of behavior will communicate to your employer just how committed you are to the job, and therefore you will be able to win over his trust. Do everything in your power not only to gain the trust of the family you are working for, but also to keep it, as once lost, it will be rather difficult to regain, if not impossible.

6.

Be discreet and reserved in communicating about you position and the working conditions. In Romania confidentiality is very important; therefore, our advice is to avoid revealing to other people information about your working schedule, monthly salary, the name of your employers, the job tasks, on even worse, inside information about the family of your employer (what do they do, where do they go, when and with whom).

7.

Think positive and prize the advantages offered by the position you occupy. Try not to compare your working conditions with those of other nannies you meet with in Romania. There will always exist differences and these might lead to the appearance of unjustified frustrations. Remember that you have initially signed a contract by which you agreed with all the work-related details. In conclusion, it is better you accept and enjoy your work specifications as you did when you first arrived in the house of your employer.

8.

Enjoy your leisure time as it is a way of recharging your batteries for the following week of work.

9.

Organize well your working time.

10.

Keep contact with the person who can provide relevant information with regard to your statute in Romania.
